LabView Database

I am currently trying to write a database using LabView. I want to save, load, and search for specific data files. Right now, I got the program to save and load data to a directory specified by the user. But I don't know how
to search for specific files in that directory. For example, all my data are either X_1.bin or Y_1.bin and I want to search only for the X files. I have a drop-down box with 2 choices: X and Y. Once the user select X and click "Search" all the X files will appear in a listbox (for example: X_1, X_2, X_3, etc). The user then can click on the desired file to display its plot from the listbox. Have you ever done anything like this? Please let me know if you have any questions. I can go into more detail if needed.

Look under File I/O -> Advanced File Function for List Directory. There is an option input parameter called Pattern. This string will filter the results by standard string search functions. You can specify X*.* to get all of the X files, or be more specific by filtering on X_??.bin.

I think it is time that you started looking at the Database connectivity tool kit which is a third party tool used for linking LV with normal DataBase applications that can use SQL.

There is no native support for such Data Base query methods in LV.

I am currently grappling with a similiar problem : I run about 250 test in a day and each test generates about 45 numeric values as part of validation data. As part of retrievla and analysis I should be able to get data peratining to specific search criteria like date of test, pump model etc. I don't think ( at least as of now ) that I can achieve this with normal tools available in LV7.1. ( I am saving all my numeric data using the Write to Spreadsheet function in file I/O group )

I think the only way out is to use the Database Connectivity Tool Kit..

( Don't get depressed at the thought of buying one more tool for LV7.1 - maybe I am wrong !)
