I had a question about LabView executables files- (one of the main differences between LabView Full and LabView Professional). If I am able to create LabView executables (LabView Pro), then I would be able to run LabView programs (executable files) on PCs that do not have LabView installed? If I use LabView Full (no executables created), then I can only run LabView files from PCs that have LabView installed?
Thanks,
Alex
Your statement is correct. Was there a question?
You will need to install the correct LabVIEW runtime engine on any computer that will run your exe.
Charles,
I am looking to buy a LabView licence and I just wanted to make sure that I understood the difference between LabView Pro and LabView Full. I am planning to have 1 licence but I would need to run programs on different PCs so it seems that we would need LabView Pro.
Thanks,
Alex
As a long time user of LabVIEW and someone who is not in any financial way affiliated with National Instruments, I would highly recommend the Developer Suite over the Pro version. I believe the cost to benefit ratio to be VERY high.

I agree completely. Besides, once you add one or two of the essential toolkits to the pro version you are at about the same price as the developer suite.

Well I should have said the benefit to cost ratio is very high ![]()
The price difference does not seem that big... I dont think we will need to use the additional features of LabView for now (such as more robust signal processing, etc..). But if at a later data we decided to upgrade, would we just pay the $500 difference?
Thanks,
Alex
I don't think you will. It does cost more to upgrade than the cost differential when you initially purchase it. However you should verify this with NI sales.
The feature in Develop Suite that we could be interested in would be Report Generation to MS Office. Can LabView Pro generate reports in csv or txt formats?
