LabView: Good/Bad??

Hi,

I am currently looking for a data acquisition software package,
and LabView seems to be the best. Please, share your experience with
LabView with me, I'd be glad to find out more attractive features and/or
major glitches. Also, if you think another package is better than
LabView, please inform me as well.

Thanx

I used to use HP VEE. Much trouble and NO support from HP. Anything that
you have trouble with, they wanted to charge for their assistance. In
the Window 3.1 version, there were some bugs that they didn't even tell
their field engineers about, too embarrassed, I guess. We got so fed up
with them that we switched to LabVIEW and have been very happy. NI
support is also the best I have ever used, even if it still lacks in
some areas.
Go with LabVIEW! You will be glad you did as time goes by.

Hi,

I used Turbo Pascal for 5 years to acquire analog signals, read write on serial
ports, talk to hpib, but it was a nightmare.

We switched to Labview at the ESRF-France, 3 years ago. It took me a 1 week
labview on site training, plus 1 year of practice to be fluent with Labview. I
don't regret. Labview is GREAT. It is EASY, It is POWERFUL, totally DEBUGGABLE,
but is a little SLOW. You must pay attention how you write your code. You can
do anything with Labview, but you should stick to what it has been designed for
and speed will not be an issue. I had a college that used HPVEE, but his
progrms looked really horrible. If you look at HP job posting, They seen to be
using labview themselves.

Conclusion: Go for Labview !

PS: I am looking for a Labview job in the US. Any ope
nings are welcome.
