LabView doesn't see USB device

Solved!
Go to solution

Hallo,

I have LabView 8.5 installed and two LogicBoxes (NIMbox NDL8 and NAD4) via USB connected. By typing in the proper USB-ID of NIMbox NDL8 in the

VISA everything

just worked fine. Then I realized this doesn't work for the other modul, so I tried switched cables and reinstalled the USB driver.

The current situation:

Windows XP detects the USB devices without any problem - always has. However, suddenly I can't connect in LabView with them by typing

in the USB-ID. The whole time the modules never showed up in MAX, but since they aren't NI instruments I think that was to expect anyway.

I just have no idea why it worked first partly and now it doesn't work at all.

Even though my problem description is kind of vague - I'm new to LabView.

I would really appriciate advice, which things I should check in order to get the USB working again.

Thanks!

Nathan

Many have reported similar problems, even recently.

Do a little search in the forum. Search also for "serial problem"

Allthough i never had problems...

Try renaming the com ports. e.g. com1 to com3

Also install the latest VISA drivers

The problem seemed to be solved by installing the latest VISA driver. I say "seemed", since I'm not

fully convinced yet. However, I'm glad it works now and that it was that simple.

Thank you!

In case you are longing for more detailed information (which I red between your lines), there is a Tutorial on USB instrument Control which seems to match your case:

http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/4478

Perhaps you could give a feedback whether  that helped or not.
