LabView installation - language problem

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I've tried to install LabView 2 times ... and always get German version of software !

What happens?

After 1st time I've saught that the reason of such strange behavior of installator was non-selecting of any of the 32-bit versions of software.

2nd time I've selected English 32-bit version (also I've reduced the number of packages).

And result was exactly the same as 1st time - German version of software.

Is there any method to change the language ... otherwise what could be a workaround for such problem.

Thanks in advance

Best Regards

Pavel.

Hi Pavel,

where does your LabVIEW installation package comes from?

Usually you need to choose the correct version of the setup package to choose the language.

There's a package to install the English version-  and there are packages for other languages (French, German, Chinese…)

Best regards,
GerdW

Ok, thanks GerdW,

I picked out from our university software server.

Certainly, tech. support guys selected "wrong" version.

Pavel, If your LabVIEW software is available for download online such as LabVIEW 2015, then it might be easier for you to just download from NI's website

. I hyperlinked to LabVIEW 2015, but you can always just search for their installers in google or http://www.ni.com/downloads/products/

Kelle,

Thank you for response. I've just tried to install using your link and also on another PC.

The same thing - certains modules are in English, others ... in French.

Rezuming my experience with these 3 installations, I went to conclusion, that modules that aren't in English are installed in language that is actually active on Task Bar.

As it was produced 3 times I think, that it's a bug of the installator of this version 2015.

FYI I connected our tech. support and was informed that our LabView version is multi-language.

One more question - with our University installator I could select 64-bit version of labView, whereas using installator from your link only 32-version is installed.

Any comment ?

Thanks in advance.

Pavel.

Hi Pavel,

yes, there are 32bit and 64bit versions of LabVIEW. Unless you really need the 64bit version it is recommended to use the 32bit version.

You can downlad all of these different versions from NI's website…

Best regards,
GerdW

Pavel, like GerdW said, you should use 32-bit unless you know for sure that your application can only run in 64-bit due to your specific needs.  It sounds like you have gotten it to install in English by changing your active language?  It seems like something that might be intended... can't be certain, but it seems like there is this article about installing and choosing your language and it mentions the behavior that you saw:  http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/A0D62A1AA781EE8C86256F70005CA20F

Yes, the article from your link describe exactly my case (here I suppose that "Windows Control Panel" is small control on taskbar that switches languages).

I think I'won't experiment with "English" ... as every time I spent 2 ... 3 hours for installation (French being much better ...Smiley Happy)

Thanks !!!
