Hi Reader.
I am trying to install 2012 version of 32-bit Labview on a windows 7 PC, 64-bit OS. During the installation process, generally around 60%, I encounter an error with code 193. The error is as follows;
Error 193: Failed to perform action License Update Manager OS Compatibility
I'm assuming that the problem is windows based. Anybody every dealt with this error, if so any advice as for me to solve it.
Many thanks,
Dylan

Hmmm... I have installed LV several time in that configuration without problems. A few random thoughts:

That sounds similar (but is a little different) from two installation failures I had (the latest was today) installing LabVIEW 2012 and LabVIEW 2013. I got a message that said "Service NI Network Discovery could not be installed" (but without an error number).
In my case, the problem seems to be that I had an earlier installation of LabVIEW that (a) hadn't yet been activated, and (b) had passed the 7 day evaluation period (I was doing a re-install of the full release). What cured it was simply to open the earlier version of LabVIEW, allow it to activate over the Internet, then redo the install without any problems. [I wasn't as clever when I encountered this in LabVIEW 2012 -- what worked there was to uninstall all the versions of LabVIEW on my machine, a process that took several hours, then do the reinstall].

Hi Mike.
Thanks for the response. To answer your questions in short;
1. Brand new PC - out the box.
2. I'm installing from images of the DVD - downloaded from our server. I have successfully installed the program on my laptop - also windows 7 - without the error.
3. The OS seems to be up to date.
4. I have uninstalled all anti-virus programs and disabled the firewall.
I'm getting the computer technician in later today to take a look and see what he can find. I'll be in touch as to how it goes.
Enjoy the day!

I just encountered this "Error 193: Failed to perform action <Filename>"
For me, the solution was to:
- remove the file from the Project's Build Specification
- build
- replace the file in Project's Build Specification
The error happened when running an installer made with LabVIEW 2011 Application Builder.
The error-dialog listed a file that was supposed to be installed during the installation.
It happens that I'd recently changed the file's location within the Project's Build Specification, Source Files section...

Sometimes installing LabVIEW just plain fails (for no discernable reason). One thing to try is to "install slowly", i.e. install LabVIEW Core first, reboot, install LabVIEW Real Time (if you are using it), reboot, install Modules and Toolkits, reboot, install DAQmx, reboot, and install the drivers (and reboot). Until you have everything installed, do not run NI Update.
Can you safely "start over"? If not, what sometimes works is to go to Windows Control Panel, Programs and Features, NI Software, select everything, and choose Repair. You will need to know on which DVD the various "pieces" you installed are located -- if you are not sure, it is safe to "guess" (the Installer will tell you if you have the wrong disk).
