Hi Chris,
As you and others have suggested, be careful when purchasing older copies of software from other users and Ebay. If a user has upgraded their version of 7.1 to the latest version, then their license will have moved with the upgrade, so their 7.1 version will not have a valid license.
If you do purchase this software from a source other than NI be sure to get the attached document filled in, which transfers the license to you as the new user. This will ensure that you are the new registered owner of the software.
National Instruments will always recommend that you use the latest version of our software, this ensures that you receive first class support on the products, as well as keeping up to date with the latest technologies and any bug fixes that are provided.
It is possible for you to purchase the latest version from National Instruments, and use the license from this on older versions of the software.
I hope that this answers your questions, and helps you purchase a legal copy of the software.
Regards
Hannah
