Labview 8 and RFSA, RFSG setup

I have RFSG, RFSA, SMT and MT installed previously with labview 7.1. Now I installed labview 8.0, it looks that all these disappeared. Shall I install them again?

Do you mean that when you installed LabVIEW 8.0, the toolkits disappeared from the LabVIEW 7.1 palette?

No. They are not available for Labview 8. It seems that I have to install them again. But they are there, I can see them from Labview 7.1.
Is there another way other than install them again?

Hi,

The toolkits and modules are different from the development systems of LabVIEW. When you installed LabVIEW 8.0, you installed only the development  system of LabVIEW. The toolkits are add-ons so if you would reinstall the toolkits, they would see that there is a another version of LabVIEW on your machine and they would install for LabVIEW 8.0 as well.

I cannot think of any other way but reinstalling.

Hope it helps,

Ankita

I also installed Labview 8,

and if i then try to install the NI-RFSG and NI-RFSA, it does not want to install for Labview 8. This means that all toolkits will not install everything also...

is there away around this?

Naturalar,

The current drivers for RFSA and RFSG don't have the support for LabVIEW 8.0 but there is definitely a workaround for that. You can manually copy folders from the LabVIEW 7.1 directory to the LabVIEW 8.0 directory to have the RFSA and RFSG VIs within LabVIEW 8.0. Here is what you need to do:

  1. VIs : Copy the ni5660, niRFSG and niTuner Folders from the following directory (C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\instr.lib) and Paste them in the following directory (C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.0\instr.lib).
  2. Examples : Copy the ni5660, niRFSG and niTuner Folders from the following directory (C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\examples\instr) and Paste them in the following directory (C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.0\examples\instr).
You could then uninstall the toolkits and reinstall them in the LabVIEW 8.0 directory. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
