Labview 8: no VI Server interface for Cursor Legend

I have appreciated many of the new features in LV 8, however I do not appreciate the changes to the Cursor Legend.  I found it a very useful GUI tool in previous versions - now it is much less user friendly.  It does not display to the user what colour the cursor is, and now does not provide a VI Server interface for programatic control.  I can appreciate that now you are able to read more than one value for a cursor (from multiple plots), but this is at the expense of usability.  Everything is now configured via a hidden shortcut menu.

Are there any suggestions for making the cursor legend more user-friendly?  Of most interest to me is displaying the colour of the cursor.  At least if I could generate a property node for the new Cursor legend (as it appears to be a tree control), and set a background colour of a cell, but this does not seem possible.

Hi Paul,

I think that you have a valid point in what you're saying. It would be nice to see the color of the cursors in the cursor legend. I think you should submit this as a Product Suggestion by using the "feedback" link from the ni.com/contact.

The most simple workaround that I could find to get something closer to what you want, was by using Property Nodes connected to simple boolean LED controls:
