FYI, that's not it either. Just compiled a VI with 426 front panel items. Still have a couple other tests that are running, but I thought I'd give you an update.
I had some more time to dig into this today, and had little luck. I suggest opening a Service Request with our Applications Engineering department (ni.com/ask) if this is critical to your application. We can work from there if necessary.
