Labview VI for acton Spectrapro - 300i

Dear All,

I am trying to write a labview program for acton spectrapro -300i spectrograph? I am new to labview. I am learning it. I was able to construct a simple test code to check whether the serial port which i am using is working or not. Fortunately, it worked. After that, I am kind of lost. I thought it would be nice to look at sample spectrograph VIs.

How should I go about this situation?

P.S I don't have any sample VIs from the company.

Hi Dr_spacepirate,

Have you taken a look at the serial/GPIB/VISA shipping examples that come with LabVIEW? Depending on which commmunication protocol you are using, good ones to start with would be either the "Continuous Serial Read and Write" example, or the "GPIB with VISA Functions" example which would take some modifications to work with your instrument. The manual for the Spectrapro -300i (linked below), lists the commands that you can use to interact with this.
