Labview and Allen-Bradley Control Logix PLC Communications

I am currently communicating with an AB PLC5 with LabView through HighwayView. I can not use HighwayView with an AB Control Logix PLC. What should I use to communicate with the PLC? DataSocket ? AB PLC Ethernet OPC ? What would be the best approach ? I need to monitor PLC alarm status and send messages to alpha pagers. Sending the page is already in place. Communicating LabView and the Control Logix device is my issue. Thanks.

Although National Instruments has several OPC servers, the control logix is not yet one of them. I would recommend using the RSLinx OEM OPC server and use the Datasocket OPC client to communicate with it. Alternatively, you can add the LabVIEW datalogging and supervisory control module to LabVIEW for a true OPC client.
