Labview on Windows 7

Solved!
Go to solution

A short test shows that LV 7.1.1 apps will run under Windows 7.

Test setup:

VirtualPC, Windows 7, application build with LV 7.1.1. No drivers, neither DAQ nor VISA or any other, required. Runtime not installed but copied to the proper location.

The tester said he has never seen this app runing as fast as in this configuration. This is even true with some other apps build with various development environments including at least Delphi and Visual Basic.

If you have the "LabVIEW 8.6 Platform DVD", it indeed does not appear to launch on Windows 7.  However, as a workaround to installing LV 8.6, you can browse to the "Distributions\LabVIEW 8.6\LabVIEW860" subdirectory of the first disk, and run "setup.exe" from there directly.  This is completely unsupported due to the Beta status, but the installer does launch without error.

Hi

I'm using Lab View 8 in my work and I have a lot of projects done on this version, so I don't like to update it.

I will change my PC for a new one with Win7. Somebody knows if there is some compatibility problems with this version and Win7/Vista ?
