Labview training

I need to learn Labview and I want to know if there are any classes, users
groups, consultants, etc so that I can learn Labview. I bought the training CD,
but still would like addtional training to get started writing programs. I
will pay someone that can train me on Labview. I am in Northshore
Massachusetts near southern NH area.

NI offers training at their Austin headquarters as well as various
regional offices. There are a few books out there as well.

Good luck.

I live in Port Jefferson, Long Island and can give you a very good introduction to using LabVIEW.

I am in Massachusetts. I would like to see some examples of how to accomplish
what I need to program.

I understand text based languages, such as C, so I undertand such statements as
while and case statements. I can go through the CD for much of the basics.
However, I need to know how to things like such as instrument control, data
formats, charts, and file operations.

The data formats outputted by the function generator or insturments should be
the input format for the waveform charts. I have tried to match up data formats
to the charts to plot waveforms, but somehow they don't seem to match up well!
I have attempted data conversion, but still cant plot wa
veforms. So, I have had
some difficulty plotting waveforms.

I need to learn how to program GPIB instruments through Labview to control
test equipment. For this I need to know how to configure and control
instruments. Also, I need to display waveforms and possibly export files.

The examples may be of some help. In examples/general/graphs, there
will be VIs that show the use of graphs and charts. In particular,
there are several, like gengraph.llb that show all of the datatypes that
a graph accepts.

Also, be sure to use the help window. Ctl-H will open it up and it will
give you info not only on functions, but also the type information on
wires.
Change the tool to the wiring tool and idle over a particular
wire and the help window will expose the datatype on the wire. This
will let you see how your type may differ from what the examples are using.

The graphs and charts do accept lots of different data types, but of
course there are many types that they do not adapt to. If you are more
specific as to the type returned from the generator or instrument, I can
give you more info on formatting it for a graph or chart.

I will try that. Thanks for your response.

Hi,

at http://www.warwicktech.freeserve.co.uk/labviewbooks.html you find a good
list of LabVIEW books. At http://www.info-labview.org/ you get more
information about another LV mailing list (probably THE LV-mailinglist).

Basics you may learn at http://www.eelab.usyd.edu.au/labview/titlepage.html

Happy wireworking
Joachim
