Hi All,
I'm a new user of labview. I have to upgarde my labview version from 8.5 to 8.6. Please let me know, how to do that and what are my choices?
Thank you All ..

Hi,
The recommended way to do this would be to remove 8.5 and its drivers and registry first.
Then go throught the process of installing 8.6 and its modules, drivers and toolkits in that order.
Doing it this way will ensure no crashes when running older VI's on the newer version.
Hope this helps!

Thank you for your response.
So, should I buy Labview 8.6 in order to install it?
Thanks again

Actually you can download here : http://digital.ni.com/src.nsf/websearch/AF0D4FEB730F94C1862574900062A822?OpenDocument&node=node=2030...
It is quite a big download though!
Hope I've helped.

Installing from the link provided will give you a 30 day trial. You will need to purchase a license for development if you want to continue using LabVIEW 8.6 after the 30 days is up.
Also I've had success with installing 8.6 after 8.5 was installed without uninstalling 8.5. Installing 8.6 will update some software that 8.5 uses but generally it will work without a problem if you are just going up one version. If you were running 7.0 and upgrading to 2010 there is a much greater possibility you would run into problems and may want to uninstall 7.0 completelly. In some cases legacy components actually need to be uninstalled before installing newer stuff but I think this is going from 6.x to 8.x or higher.

LabVIEW 8.5 and 8.6 can be installed side by side. You do not have to unistall LabVIEW 8.5 before you install LabVIEW 8.6. Moreover, we don't recommend deleting registry keys. The upgrade process for LabVIEW programs is described in detail here
