Led On/Off .control

I sorted it out by by putting On and Off in the same event, thank you for the advise. I then put a case statement within this to control each led. It works but I thought it could be more straight forward. I tried to use the shift registered but couldn't get it working (im a newbie). I couldnt decipher the diagram in the image as I think it may be from a different version.

The images that I attached were VI Snippets.  These images have the VI embedded inside.  If you save the image and then drag-and-drop it onto a block diagram, the original VI should be imported.  Your originally attached VI was saved for 2014, so ostensibly you have 2014 and should have no problem with the 2013 ones that I attached.

 

 

In addition, I would recommend the common LabVIEW introduction material for learning the basics, especially core concepts such as shift registers and their use:
