License problems with RAID systems

We are running a Labview vision 8.0 application on a XP SP2 system with RAID controller. The purpose is to be able to quickly recover from any harddisk problems. Do I have to reactivate the licenses when I swap the harddisks?

Hi,

As your RAID controller is just an external harddrive, the vision license is essentially running on the same machine so the same license can be used on different controllers.

There's no need to deactivate for each controller, as long as the license is being used on one system I don't believe you would be violating the licensing agreement.

Hi Sarah,

My question is not about the license itself. I asumed it is valid for the system anyay. The question is this: when I switch over from the original C-drive to the (internal) image and make that my new C-drive, do I have to activate the license again? If I'm correct, the serial number of the C-drive is used to calculate the computer ID and the activation code.

Thanks.

If there's a network interface on the system then the computer ID is generated from the mac address, in which case there shouldn't be a problem. If there is no network interface the ID is generated from the harddrive so you would have to reactivate.
