MAX configuration file location

HI, I had some vis running on my PC. Suddenly this PC stopped working (HDD problems) I was able to recover some files, but I'm not longer able to use this HDD. Therefore I was unable to run the export MAX parameter settings to a *.nce file. Is this information located somewhere in the program files\national instruments\ directory? I guess this information should be somewhere in the HDD. Thanks in advance.

Hey!

The problem is that the .nce file is not stored on disk, but rather created on export.

Though MAX stors everything in it data directory under Program Files\National Instruments\MAX\Data. It's not a supported way, but if you copy all the files located in this directory to the other system and replacing them there it might work. In order to overwrite the files you will have to shutdown some NI processes, which could be done through the windows task manager then. After that you need to restart the computer and MAX should start with loading the old configurations then.

Also make sure that you have the exactly same software versions on the new system as you previously had.

Hope this helps,

Christian

Hi,

It should be independet from LabVIEW, but take care that you have the same version of MAX, DAQmx and VISA on the system.

Anyhow, you just can give it a try since there is no other way.

Hi Christian,

I have done this procedure, I didn't see any changes in the MAX, but every thing seems to be working fine (I guess it changed something I didn't notice).

Thanks for your help.
