Hello,
Please ensure that your motherboard drivers and BIOS are updated to their most recent versions, and try to install the most recent version of NI-VISA, 5.3 from the following link.

OK. Thansk for all the help.
Here's what worked:
a) uninstall ALL LabVIEW stuff.
b) install new MAX
c) inslall new VISA
d) install RUN-TIME (for the specivic version of LabVIEW from which the exe was created.)

Just out of random curiosity. (Well not entierly random)
Did you have a PXIe chassis connected via MXI? For some stange reason when I power cycle my PXIe 1078 MAX gets angry, looses my com ports, looses my software, looses some PXI devices.... Until I reboot with the PXIe 1078 powered on first.

Jeff -
No. Just PXI slot based cards.
Might have been multiple causes.
Don't care at this point, just being a little more attentive to versions of software to install.
