I've installed the 18.5 version drivers and I still don't see that option. This is what options I do have (see PPT file)

Uncheck Automatically select recommended installers and look again.
Sorry. When I first looked at your PPTX file, only the first slide came up.

The MAX option should be right after "NI Launcher" on your 4th slide.
These are the MAX installer files on my PC:
<ProgramData>\National Instruments\MDF\ProductCache\
---
This is the description in the installer (could there be a dependency missing?):
"Use Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) to configure, test, and communicate with your National Instruments hardware. You must install the appropriate driver software for your hardware to appear in MAX. If your users will configure remote systems or network devices, also select Silverlight as an additional product for this deployment.
Contains all components in the product
This product is a dependency of the following products:
[NI PXI Platform Services Configuration 18.5]
[NI-488.2 Configuration Support 17.6]
[NI-DAQmx Application Development Support 18.5]
[NI-DAQmx Runtime with Configuration Support 18.5]
[NI-Serial Configuration 18.5]
[NI-VISA Configuration Support 18.5]
[NI-VISA Remote Server 17.5]
[NI-XNET 18.0]"

my <ProgramData>\National Instruments\MDF\ProductCache\ has the same content. However, none of the dependency products are listed in the "additional Installers." Under dependencies for my Project I have: vi.lib, lvinput.dll, nilvaiu.dll, and lvalarms.dll.
Do I need to consider upgrading to LV 2018? This has ramifications to other applications I have responsibility for maintaining.
The hardware is a PCIe-6509 card plugged into the PC.
The standard default installer does install a minimal version of MAX that allows for a self-test of the card. But not tests panels that I can use to manipulate ports and bits.
