I have a vi that opens, writes to, and closes an Excel .xlsx file. When I operate this from my desk computer, I see the spreadsheet open and close BEHIND the calling vi. No problem. On another computer, the spreadsheet opens IN FRONT of the calling VI and obscures my vi's popup message, and the spreadsheet remains, effectively locking vi execution unless I move it aside. Both computers have the same Labview 2011 SP1 and same MS Office and same MS Office Toolkit. The latter behavior is the problem one. Why does it behave differently?

I think I understand my problem. The difference is the monitors. Where the problem does NOT exist, I have a larger monitor with higher res, and I can see the spreadsheet popup behind it. On the "problem" computer, it has a smaller, low res monitor and the VI occupies the entire screen. Must be the spreadsheet is FORCED to appear in front of the VI on that monitor. In any event, I can fix the problem by using Excel Bring to Front and setting window state to Minimized. I just thought it curious that the fix was needed on one computer/monitor and not the other.
