Max define Firewire driver

Hello guys,

I'm trying to do a setup that's going to automatically set a vision test that I've made for a cliente.

Untill this moment I've to:
 - install all NI runtimes and program
 - activate the licences
 - install 3rd party Firewire camera
 - go to Max and assign the legacy driver to my camera

My purpose it's to do something that query the user the less as possible.

How can I put Max setting that driver automatically?

Best reagards for all,

Hi Jorge,

What can be done is to create an installer with LabVIEW, if you have LabVIEW 8.0 or later, you can use you project to do so. If you don’t have this software installed on your computer(s) you can also export MAX configuration from you development machine and import it on your vision-testing machine.

Be careful about the licensing using for VISION software also, the VISION runtime base licence is limited to three machines.

Hello Jean-Philippe,

Let explain better what I've so that you can give a better support.

I'm using Labview 8.2.1 and my system uses a generic firewire board.

I can't export Max configuration file because it says that "no products are installed that supports this wizard".

The only thing that I can do it's save manually. But how can I set the type of driver and the configurations in an automatic way?

Hello Jorge,

Because it's a third party firewire card, I cannot ensure you about the 100% compatibility with MAX tools. But, I can give you this link about one of our drivers that do support third-party firewire cards into MAX. Unfortunately, it's only delivred with our camera's vision drivers as you will read... I guess there's no "easy way" to your problem. Your customers will have to do it manually. Maybe by parsing the config file you will be able to create a small script that check the hardware properties and modify the MAX config file for your customers (and so on you will keep transparency for them).

I cannot help you more on this topic, sorry.
