Measurement & Automation Explorer

Hi,

has someone of you an idea how i can export virtual channels.
I want to copy the whole configuration to another pc but I cannot
find any file or registry key where the channels are defined in.

Thanks for help

Hi Achim,

Simply go to Measurement and Automation Explorer and select File > Export to export the configurations that you need. This writes the selected configurations into a file in the location you choose. Then import this file using the File > Import menu item in Measurement and Automation Explorer on the target PC.

Hi,

I know this function, but I cannot export the virtual channels created
on a traditional DAQ by this way.
Because on my computer I only can export the Ni-daqmx channels.

thanks achim

Dear Achim,

To address your question, I believe you want to use one computer's configuration on another. It is correct that for DAQmx you can use the Import and Export functionality, but for Traditional DAQ you must copy the niconfig.daq file from the first computer to the target.

There are some complications that arise when doing such an operation, and these are discussed on one of our KnowledgeBases that I have linked below:

Let me know if you have any further questions or if this does not resolve your issue.

Thanks and have a great day!

Ah, yes, Traditional Daq is not supported in MAX's import/export mechanism. For traditional DAQ copy the "niconfig.daq" file from the Windows directory to some location on your target PC (doens't have to be the windows directory). I also recommend renaming the file. Then launch MAX on the target PC and select Tools > Traditional NI-DAQ Configuration > Set Active Configuration. In the dialog select the file you copied from the other PC. This operation will load the configurations from the new file. This operation works best if you have exactly the same hardware on the target PC as on the original PC. If there are differences you may have to modifify your hardware configurations. Still if you renamed the copied file as I recommended and things don't
work correctly, you can easily revert to the previous configuration file on that system by using this same menu item and selecting the original "niconfig.daq" file in the Windows directory.
