Thanks for the responses everyone! After some investigating, and much much more time convincing my boss to spend $200..., I've decided to go ahead and upgrade the DAQmx to a version with an analog input. It will definately be the easier solution and the more precise solution. The 34401a is a nice piece of equipment but definately past its prime.
