Minimum (lightest) Ni-DAQmx version to use "DAQ assistant" with LabVIEW 7.1

I should use LabVIEW 7.1 (and "DAQ Assistant") on some old PCs (256MB RAM, 1GHz) with Windows XP.

Latest NI-DAQmx version is hard to install on that (old) hardware so was wondering which minimum, lightest, version of NI-DAQmx I can install in order to get the better performances on those PCs.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Does NI-DAQmx base support "DAQ Assistant" VI?

Hi,

the older NI-DAQmx version compatible with LabVIEW 7.1 is NI-DAQmx 7.2, which you can download here. If you have a look at readme file, you will see the recommended system requirements meet your ones. However, this is true also for more recent versions of NI-DAQmx (256MB of RAM is recommended), but maybe 7.2 is lighter.

For LabVIEW 7.1, the minimum system requirements are explained here.

NI-DAQmx Base offers a subset of NI-DAQmx functionality, and does not support the DAQ Assistant.

I hope I've answered all your questions!

Bye!

Thanks for the reply.

I'm using the NI-DAQmx 7.5 [bundled with the USB-6008] and works well except for some minor functionally [i.e. drawing of connection not supported yet for the USB-6008] .

System requirements appear to be the same for both LabVIEW version: 7.1 and 8.x...seems that point to the same URL:

http://www.ni.com/labview/requirements

but I found 7.1 installation speeder than 8.x one.

You're right, the USB-6008 requires NI DAQmx version 7.5 or higher, so it is not supported by DAQmx 7.2. Sorry, but I didn't know which kind of driver you were using. NI-DAQmx 7.5 is fully supported under LabVIEW 7.1.

Bye.

Hi,

this forum is quite old and not fully related to your question, so you would better to open a new post so that other users would be able to see it and help you.

Anyway, if you simply needs to "find" DAQ Assistant, this function is installed installing the drivers for your device, NI-DAQmx. You can download the last version available here.

Hope this helps.

Bye!
