Missing Scaling & Mapping Express VI

Hi,

I'm currently trying to work through the Labview 7 Express - Getting Started with Labview (Eval Vers. 7) Handbook.  In Chapter 1, Page 1-9 the tutorial suggests adding the Scaling & Mapping Express VI to the demo VI.  I do not seem to have this VI installed - can anyone let me know where it is or how I can install it (and from where?) ?

Many thanks

On your functions palette>> 'Arithmetic and comparison' tool box >> you will find scaling and Mapping VI

When I browse the Functions Palette, Arithmetic & Comparison Palette there is no Scaling & Mapping function.  If I search for it in help I can get a help page about it  but when I click on the find this function in the Function Palette it gives the error message - Object not found (see attached jpg).  Do I need to install extra functions ??

Which version of LaBVIEW do you have - is it base, full or pro. I don't believe this function is available in the base version, so could explain it?!

Most likely SR was on the right track.  That Express VI is not included in the LabVIEW Base package.  We have received a great deal of feedback that the Getting Started manual (which is the same across all LabVIEW distributions) should be able to be completed on any LabVIEW package.  We are currently working to resolve this in a future release, sorry for the confusion and inconvenience.

How do I find out which version of Labview I am running - I can't seem to find it in the help section.

Also I'm trying to use a VI (Peak Detector.vi) which should be available in the base Labview but I get the same error message as mentioned earlier.  Is it possible that the install has gone wrong and I don't have all the VIs installed correctly?  Is it possible to install extra VIs or to check which ones I have installed ?

HI,

It might be a good idea to firstly see what version of LV you have (base, pro, full, educational) and then if it's confirmed that you don't have the correct vi's installed try a repair of the software.

To do this. Goto >>

Start >> Control Panel >> Add/Remove Programs >> NI software >> change/repair >> navigate to LabVIEW 8.0 and press repair.

This should reinstall all of the vi's you are missing. If this doesn't work. Post back?

Thanx

I've got Labview 7.1 Base 😞 so the features I want are not included.

However, I've just ordered the Labview 8 Full upgrade so with a bit of luck I can update the software and I'll be in business 😉

I was a bit confused earlier as the Help | About box only says Labview not Labview Base - I assume the Full & Pro versions have extra words to clarify the version type.  The Control Panel route specifies the Base package so I am now sure what I have.

Many thanks to all for the help
