MySQL System DSN error

I'd like to create MySQL tables via LabVIEW, so I've tried the attached VI which only opens and closes the connection. It runs fine once, but the second time I get the following error:

Error -2147467259 occurred at Exception occured in Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers: [MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver]Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061) in Database Write.vi

What am I doing wrong?

Hi Bmihura,

I am not too familiar with the ActiveX database you are using, but I know that you'd have to fill in all the parameters for it to work.

Also you will need to know the right commands and understand the limitations to access the database.

I would recommend looking into NI LabVIEW Database Connectivity Toolkit if you are planning to deal with databases a lot more.

I'm not sure what parameters you're referring to that aren't filled in. They seem to be filled in to me. The code looks OK as well, and the fact that you can connect indicates it runs OK. I would be curious to know if the same situation occurs if you actually fetch a table from the database.

Try Ado toolkit. It's free and works with MySQL/Access DB.

I had the same problem then I uninstalled the Mysql ODBC Connector 5.1 and installed ODBC Connector 3.51.
It worked for me. Hope it works for you too Smiley Very Happy

My company is switching from MySQL to SQL Server, grr. But hopefully that will work better....

A couple comments:

1. Forget the data connectivity toolkit. It adds a bunch of complexity with no benefit AND limits your support options.
2. If your company is switching to the latest version (2005) it shouldn't be a problem. Unlike previous versions, 2005 is actually pretty good.
