We have a NI 9503 stepper motor drive and a C-RIO chassis. All the examples I found online use NI 9503 with the Softmotion module for micro-stepping control. I wonder if I can still use NI 9503 without the Softmotion module for regular stepper motor (e.g. wave drive) control? In addition, is LabVIEW 2022 (on my computer) backward compatible with SoftMotion 2020 (the latest version)?

Thank you for the link. It seems that getting the NI 9503 working without the SoftMotion addon is very difficult.

Yes, the 9503 hardware has to be used with SoftMotion, unfortunately both are obsolete. NI does not support these products anymore.
