NI-DAQmx 19.6 LabVIEW support for LabView 2016 on Windows 11 Pro (24H2)

Hello,

when opening a LabVIEW 2016 (32 bit) project on my Win 11 Pro (24H2) development system I recognized, that the DAQmx support for LabVIEW 2016 was not installed (anymore). I reinstalled the NI-DAQmx 19.6 driver but during installation I don't get the option to select the LabVIEW 2016 support (32 bit) for installation.

On another system with Win 11 (23H2) this is possible.

Does anyone know if the Win 11 version change from 23H2 to 24H2 might be related to this?

And more important, is there something I can do, to get the LabVIEW support installed again? Or could I just copy some directories from the computer where it is installed?

I tried to repair the LabVIEW 2016 installation as well as NI-DAQmx 19.6.

Thanks a lot,

Sven

Hello Sven,

I am experiencing the same issue trying to install LabVIEW 2016 and DAQmx 19.6 on a Windows 11 pro (24H2) computer.

LabVIEW works but the DAQmx drivers don't seem to get installed in the LabVIEW 2016 folders.

Have you come up with a solution for this problem?

Thanks,

-John

Hello John,

unfortunately not.

I am using the other Win 11 system I mentioned in my original post (with an older Win 11 version) for recompiling the NI-DAQ-based packed libraries of my project if necessary, hoping, that this will work at least the next couple of month until the project finishes.

But at least it is good to know, that this seems to be a more common problem (although LabVIEW 2016 and "common" probably doesn't match very well any more 🙂 ) and is not related solely to something I did on my system.

Have a nice day,

Sven

Hello Sven,

The version of Windows 11 that is officially compatible with NI-DAQmx is NI-DAQmx 2022 Q3.
This version has been verified and tested by NI, which guarantees stable operation and proper use of the DAQ tools.
For older driver versions, NI does not guarantee full compatibility, and unexpected behavior or bugs may occur.
Here are the official links and references: LabVIEW and Microsoft Windows Compatibility - NI

Hi

I don't have the answer for the NI-DAQmx installation problem in W11 24H2.

But I have an idea that could explain it. See :

https://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Local-Security-Authority-LabView-2024-Q3/td-p/4394721/page/9

It is about another problem but the root of the problem could be the same. A DLL or some other resource that is not allowed to be installed due to missing certificate of some kind.

And 24H2 seems to be the version where Microsoft got serious about this.

I have no idea how to get around such an obstacle, so I just stay behind it.

Regards

Hello,

thanks a lot.

This might explain the behaviour, indeed. I don't have time to check things deeper in this direction right now, but I will provide an update here as soon as I have checked.

Have a nice day,

Sven
