NI-DAQmx 7.5 upgrade failure causes MAX seizure?

I have just attempted to upgrade my NI-DAQmx from 7.3 to 7.5 by downloading and running the driver per the install.txt.  After an apparently successful install, MAX locks up as it is trying to start.  All I get is the splash screen.  Any suggestions?

My first thought would be to reinstall. Something probably didn't go right during the install.

I just upgraded from 7.4 to 7.5 and so far everything's OK.

Ok, it looks like I needed to also update my legacy NI-DAQ.  Once I did that, MAX started up ok.  My next hurdle is finding out that the ONLY NI-DAQmx device that I can't seem to simulate is the SCXI-1600, which is precisely the one I want!  I'm doing some development of interfaces, etc., off-line, and the system in question uses the 1600.  Can I select a DAQ device that I can "connect" a simulated SCXI chassis that will come close to the behavior of the 1600?  Can someone recommend a particular one that should require minimal changes moving to the real deal?  I set up a 6031E and SCXI1001 just to show myself that could work, but didn't know how peculiar the 1600 really is.

You can actually simulate 1600.

When you select to Simulate a device, expand the SCXI Chassis section and select the chassis you will be using. In the next dialog, you'll notice that it uses a 1600 by default for communications.
