NI Example Finder Error

I am trying to launch an example in LabVIEW 7.1 from the NI Example Finder but I get an error message saying, Could not find LabVIEW service port from ServiceLocator. You will not be able to browse by Directory Structure What can I do to open my LabVIEW examples?

Hi luiss,

I had the same problem and the sulution is:
If you have firewall on your computer try to allow LabView or the ServiceLocator to access the Internet.

Don't ask me why, it worked for me, hope it'll work for you.

Hope it's Help ...

I am having a similar problem.

When I open the example finder, I get the following message:

"The NI ServiceLocator is not running. You will not be able to browse by Directory Structure."

I am also not able to open any of the examples provided on the example finders home page.

I am running:

- LabVIEW 8.2

- Example Finder 1.0

- Windows XP

As the error message indicates, the NI Service Locator service is not running. To check to see if it's running, open you services (Start->Run and enter services.msc for the command). Scroll down until you see the NI Service Locator service. See if it's running. If not, check to see if it's disabled. If so, set it to "Automatic", start it, and then restart LabVIEW.

OK, now I'm having the same problem on my other computer.

I went to Services, but now NI Service Locator isnt even listed.

Any advice?

Probably a botched install. What version of LabVIEW and OS? Did you try reinstalling? (You could create the service manually, but it's safer to reinstall.)
