NI Package Manager Installer Stuck on White Screen

Solved!
Go to solution

I'm having an issue with the NI Package Manager. Every time I try to open it, the window appears but stays completely white—no loading, no UI elements.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Uninstalled NI Package Manager and all NI software via Control Panel.
  • Rebooted and downloaded a fresh installer from NI’s website.
  • Tried both online and offline installers, as administrator.
  • Disconnected from the internet before launching the installer.
  • Still, the installer itself opens to a white screen and doesn’t proceed, even after a whole weekend left open.

I am on Windows 10 on this computer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

I hope you did the first step in the opposite order -- opened Control Panel, uninstalled National Instruments Software (and selected "All" which should check everything except NIPM), let it run and "remove all", then did it again, with only NIPM showing and a warning message.

Once you run through Control Panel twice, run it one more time and be sure there are no more National Instrument packages.  If you have, say, LabVIEW 2015, installed, there might be several hundred other packages that show up once NIPM is gone.

i'm not sure it was in the right order, i did it in a single step when I chose remove all. There are no more NI packages to chose from I thought i removed everything.

Thank you!

If you used Control Panel, "Programs and Features", you should have seen an entry called "Programs and Features".  This brings up NIPM, and lets you remove everything except NIPM.  When you reboot after removing everything, and again open Control Panel, you should see "NI Package Manager".  You must also remove that.  When it again reboots, once more you go to Control Panel and makes sure there are no more entries for NI or National Instruments.

Oops, I just noticed a stupid typo in my response two earlier.  I should have said -- If you used Control Panel, "Programs and Features", you should have seen an entry called "NI Software".  This brings up ...

Just wanted to update this post in case it helps someone else:

The issue was caused by RealVNC. When I was connected to the machine via VNC, both the NI Package Manager and its installer would only show a white screen. As soon as I accessed the machine locally, everything worked fine.

Thanks for taking the time to read or help!
