NI Software Update USB

I've received a new memory stick through the post with updated software and I tried to reformat the previous one rather than throw it in the rubbish, but it appears to be write protected. Is it possible to make these writeable or are they single use & throw away?

Wow, you have a lot of trust in NI to throw away the 'old' version so quickly!!  I would like to know if it can be done too (I wont tell you which one i will be deleting though  )

Hi DuncanW,

This page offers a couple of solutions for reformatting write-protected USB's. I don't know how well the third-party application referenced in the second solution works, but editing the registry files to remove write-protection seems to be a common solution. I would recommend being careful with regedit, if you've never used it before. A quick Google search also yields a multitude of answers, if you would like to try a different solution.

The problem appears to be that the disk is formatted as CDFS, so it's not a Write protect issue.

I also am looking to do the same thing. I tried editing the registry and just strait formatting using the built in windows tool but no luck.

My drive is listed as an NTFS File system type. Anyone have luck formatting their drive?
