Hi I am using a NI Amux 7604 to drive a stepper motor. When I tried to initialize this device it gives an error 70132. Can someone please tell me what is this about.

Hey Varunmittal-

As mentioned in the forum post Why suddenly error......, the 70132 error code seems to refer to a time out error. What software are you working with that gives your this error? Are you initializing the device in Measurement and Automation Explorer or in LabVIEW code? What hardware are you working with? What motion controller and drive are you using; were you referring to the MID 7604 for the stepper drive? A little more information in regards to when you receive this error would be helpful in understanding what the actual issue is.

Hope these questions help.

Thanks for the reply.

I am using LabVIEW 6.1, I am trying to initialize it from Automation and Control. I am using the MID 7604 for the stepper drive. I checked the Voltages at the Motor and it is sending a synchronous Voltage. But when I try to control the stepper from LabVIEW or Automation and Control, It is not changing. Yesterday I reset the device. The Error is gone. But I am still not able to give it any drive.

Hey Varun,

Using the 1-D Interactive control in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) are you able to do a simple move? Are you seeing the same behavior with a different motor? If you are working in the MAX, are your receiving an indication that your motor has completed the move but are not seeing any phyical motion from your device? Are there any errors associated with your failed move?

It is still a little unclear what you are doing to try and move your stepper.

Hi I went to Measurement and Automation and tried to do a simple move by changing the target position. It shows no error currently, though it ws showing the error 70132 earlier. I reset the device from measurement and automation and initialised it. The status is fine now. When I change the target position there is no physical change though the it says the Move is complete. I tried different positions and checked if there is any change in the V at the 4 terminals of the Motor. 2 terminals are recieving a V of the order 28.4 and 2 terminals are getting a voltage of 2.0 There is a minor change in the voltage when i change the value like from 28.4 to 28.6 or 2.0 to 2.1 etc. But not a very significant one. Also the Stepping motor I am using is a 2.4VDC 4.6 A   200 Steps/rev Motor. Now I am not sure but doesnt this means that it should be getting less than 2.4V at its coil pack terminals.

Hey Varun-

You had mentioned that the motor your are using is rated for 2.4 V and 4.6 A. This may be the reason your not seeing any movement as the peak current that the MID 7602 outputs is 1.4 A. This would explain why your not seeing any movement as the motor is not receiving enough current to physically move. Check the MID specifications for more information on the peak current: Stepper and Servo Motor Drives. One way to test if this is the cause of your issue is to try using a different motor that has a maximum current less the using peak current on the drive and see if you can control it.

Hope this helps.
