NI cDAQ-9178 is not getting detected in NI PXIe 8840

Solved!

Dear Experts,

I am using NI cDAQ-9178 with 9476 Modules in NI PXIe 8840 and its not getting detected using NI MUX under Remote Systems and same is detected under My System when connected to my Host computer.

Note: Same Model i have used in earlier systems and works fine, tried connecting the same Hardware in my old machines but still its not getting detected in earlier system as well.

Please do share your thoughts on this.

If I am understanding you correcty, you have 1 cDAQ chassis that is not being detected by multiple systems.  Other systems with same or similar device drivers detect the same model of cDAQ chassis without problems.

Are there any other interesting visual clues? Do the lights look right on the suspect chassis? Large dents? Smoke and flame pouring out? Bullet holes?

Don't ask how I found out that those cDAQ chassis aren't bulletproof.  Just say they are not all together suitable for ordinance test ranges.

cDAQ chassis will be listed under the host as it cannot function without a Host. It will be populated under Remote System only for a cRIO chassis.

In general cDAQ chassis is like a USB hub what connects to it matter and not the hub itself, as long as the modules in the cDAQ are showing up in NI MAX, you're good to go.

Scenario 1 - I have one cDAQ - 9178 and it works perfectly fine in one of our ATE (Automated Test Equipment).

Scenario 2 - I have recently procured new cDAQ - 9178 for new ATE but it is not detecting PXIe but the same works in Host System.

During Debugging i tried connecting new cDAQ-9178 and tried connecting old PXIe but still its not detecting.

You are missing some drivers on the new ATE.  Compare the installed software in MAX.

I tried connecting New cDAQ to my old ATE (PXIe) even there it is not getting detected.

Do you happen to have any NI DAQ PXI card in that chassis? If not are you sure you installed NI DAQmx software on that system in a version that is compatible with your LabVIEW version? NI DAQmx 20.x is for instance only compatible with LabVIEW 2020 and the previous 3 versions.

Dear All,

The USB Cable was the culprit here.

We had cDAQ with default Shorter USB Cable from which we have added extension cable to connect to my Primary RACK where my RT system is Located ( We had three different RACKS each of 36 U).

The same extension cable works fine when connected to Host and same was not working when connected to RT, after changing the cable we could detect the cDAQ in RT System as well.

Still debugging why same cable which supports PC(Host PC) but not PXIe System (RT)

Thank you all for your suggestions.
