Dear all,
I am programming an EPOS2 controller with the following gear:
- cRIO 9076
- NI 9853
- NI softmotion/RT/etc. module
- NI Softmotion Axis Interface for EPOS2 positioning controller (available on Maxon's website)
With the "NI Softmotion Axis Interface for EPOS2 positioning controller" addon package come a few examples of which I succesfully got all exept one running. The example where you can use the Softmotion commands in labview to control your EPOS2 over the CAN interface however has given me problem. The point appears to be that my axis are not configured correctly because I cannot make any testmoves in the interactive testpanel. The error I get is -70229 which is a timeout error.
My concrete question is therefore: Has anyone encountered a problem like the one above, and if so, how did you manage to solve it?
Any help is very welcome!
Kind Regards,
Tom

Hi again,
I see 41 labview programming kings have taken a look at the issue, but none has seen a quick solution.
Is there anyone who uses a Maxon motor with NI softmotion? Because then I am very interested inyour softmotion axis configuration! 😉
Cheers,
Tom

Hello Tom,
Have you tried this Knowledge Base?
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/0F7252C95910B49D86257926005F3B24?OpenDocument
Although I haven't personally seen this error 70229 caused by a Maxon motor myself, I have seen this error caused by a SoftMotion "version mix".

What version of LabVIEW? I see there is a critical update for LabVIEW 2013 SoftMotion here. I don't know if it fixes the problem you are having, but the description looks like it might.

Hi Bill,
Thanx for your reply. I run Labview 2013 and I saw the update, but before and afterwards updating didn't really make a difference. But thanx for the input 🙂

Hi Thierry,
Thanx for your reply. I had seen the Knowledge base, but in later versions of Labview (I run 2013) the scan engine support is integrated in the softmotion module software (if I remember correctly) so they don't show up as two separate items anymore. This should mean that the 'two version mixup' cannot happen anymore, but I will check it just to be shure.
Regards, Tom

Hello Tom,
Can you share a Technical Support MAX Report of your PC and your cRIO?

Hi Thierry,
I've attached the reports, I hope you can find something!
Thanks, Tom

Hello Tom,
I don't directly see something going wrong over here. (but I could be overlooking something)
Have you also already tried to use the advised support channel for the "NI SoftMotion Axis Interface for EPOS2 Positioning Controller - maxon motor".
On the product page (https://www.ni.com/en/support/downloads/tools-network/download.epos2-positioning-controller-driver.h...) the following link is mentioned as official support channel for this third party add-on:
Please also keep us in the loop about the feedback you receive via these support channels.
This might also help another customer.

Hi all,
i encountered the same problem, I have no soluten but an update.
I altered the example by deleting the example itselv and setting up only the Interface(including Start-Up; State and Close). I used the State VI of the Maxon Motor Soft Motion Interface in a while-Loop. After the State-VI tells me that the interface is running, i execute the interactive Test Panel with the axis. There, I encountered a specific error of the Interface, which is not listed in the LabVIEW Help: 0xFFOC.
I use LabVIEW 2012 in FPGA Programming Mode with the cRIO-9022 and the Chassis 9114. The Axis I use are unbound Axis.
