Does the new tab-based interface work well with multiple monitors? I use 3 screens at work and frequently use all of them. I usually have my main front panel on one, main block diagram on another, and maybe the probe window on a third.
I'm worried the tabs will make me use a single screen, which doesn't sound appealing.
I'll probably do a poor job of describing this but you can drag one of the tabs onto an open monitor to open up another IDE window. Each on can independently navigate VIs and the project but they are in lock step so if you have a VI open up in both windows and move an object in one, it is immediately shown in the other. It's kind of neat to be able to basically create a brand new window for debugging, dig down and open up a ton of VIs and then close out the whole window when I'm done but other than that, it feels different but I haven't used it enough to form really strong opinions.
The probes window isn't separate and when you set a probe it is viewable from the left pane similar to the locals window in VS Code. I rather like this change and always kind of hated having new floating windows (though I'm sure it'll get complaints about lack of custom probes).

I'm glad I started an active topic related to NXG.
I'm sure it has to do with Emboar_Dymax offering to discuss it with me. 🙂

I just played with NXG 2 and you can drag the .gvi tab out of the window to create a new window. Then in the original window click the .gvi in the project and it will open in that window. Then choose one as a panel and the other as a diagram.
Sorry for the crude description, but I have not really used NXG yet. Hopefully they have made it easier in NXG 5, but I just received a new license and have not installed it yet.

Drag and drop all day long 😉
At least it looks like NI has worked on the right-click menu since 2.1.

I noticed in 2.1 is that if you have the panel in one window and the diagram in another window and double-click an indicator on the diagram that the diagram window will change to the panel to highlight it, but the other window with the panel does not highlight the indicator. So then you have to find the indicator in the other window and then switch the window that changed back to the diagram.
It makes sense if you are only using one window. But I would prefer it to behave more like LV.

Is there an official 'launch' date on NXG 5.0 if you will? Just wondering as it seems some people have gotten it before I.. 😛

Good question - I believe the folks here are talking about NXG 5.0 from the LabVIEW NXG Community Edition, which released earlier than the official non-community release. https://www.ni.com/en-us/shop/labview/select-edition/labview-community-edition.html
The official release should be in just a few more weeks.
By the way - to close on an earlier comment in this thread, Web Module functionality is included in the LabVIEW NXG Community Edition, but you will not see NILM show an active license for the Web Module (that only turns green if you purchased a license for the Web Module and are using it outside of the Community Edition).

Please let me explain further.
When you see the license status on NI License Manager >> Product Overview >> LabVIEW NXG 5.0,
Web Module Icon is green, this means that the product is activated.
But there is a little confusion. See NI License Manager >> Local License >> LabVIEW NXG 5.0 >> Addon >> Web Module
The icon is yellow with full circle but "Expiration" is not correct. In my case, it said "Will be expired on June 19th, 2020".
What Do the Colored Icons in NI License Manager Mean? - National Instruments
The expiration date is for "Commercial" Web Module License. As Risa explained, we can use Web Module with valid license.
(Of course this is "Community Edition", commercial use is not allowed.)

Does "OpenG" works with LabVIEW 5.0? 🤔
And will LINX functionality be added during this year(version)? 😊
