As already mentioned, you can use the HDF groups utilities to convert to HDF5. However, if you want to use the native HDF4, you can download the HDF4 DLLs from
here. Make sure you get the documentation. Then use the
Call Library Function Node to access the DLL. LabVIEW 8.2 includes a wizard that will automate most of this. Look under
Tools>>Import>>Shared Library. The only major problems you will run into is if you need to use an HDF4 subroutine which uses functionality not supported by the
Call Library Function Node. Examples of this are function pointers in the call list and DLL constants. For these, you will need to write wrapper functions which expose the functionality you need.
