New LabVIEW activation wizard

Solved!
Go to solution

Here's a thing that I find tiring lately:

LVInstaller.jpg

When activating LabVIEW with the new activation Wizard it will not batch process the codes, but rather go one by one. Each time it takes about a minute to contact the database and I will get an e-Mail for each. To add insult to injury it doesn't even remember the serial numbers I entered during the installation.

Why does it do this, when it worked so well before? I just did this for LabVIEW 2014 dev system only, but already I had to go thruogh this process 4 times.

Are there any plans to change this behavior?

My latest LV version is 2018, so maybe this has been fixed or I'm overlooking something.

Hi PeterFoerster,

What steps are you following to perform the activation?

  1. Are you going from the LabVIEW Licensing Wizard that pops up when you launch LabVIEW? I performed the steps from the LV Activation Wizard, and I was able to batch activate all these products. The functionality itself has not been removed from LV.

If you launch the Wizard by clicking Activate Software in the NI License Manager, you will receive more options of products available to activate:

In my case, the result of the batch activation was also successful. The functionality is still there.

This was the end result as seen from the License Manager.

OK, that's interesting. Thanks for getting back to me!

I did use the Activation Wizard that pops up after the LabVIEW installation and it would only ask me for a single activation code each time. Maybe something went wrong in my system somewhere along the lines, but I can remember this being an issue on various systems and for some time now.

What version of the Wizard are you using?

It's good to know that the functionality is still there, I will keep an eye out in future installations. It's not that pressing an issue, I just found it odd, when I first encountered it a while ago.

You are very welcome PeterFoerster!

Thank you for marking it as a solution and for bringing up this issue, it's always good to have documentation of all these occurrences in the forum posts. All of the steps mentioned in my post were done using the NI License Manager 4.3 Version.

Wish you have success in your next software activation!

Hi MoacirF,

two related questions:

1. I remember an Email option when trying to activate LabVIEW (components). Is this still available?

2. When will you add ALL your suites to the web-based product activation? For years now I'm complaining about the missing "Embedded control and monitoring Suite" (LabVIEW + RT + FPGA) in the list of alternatives…

Both of those options are could be really helpful when you are locked behind a strict company proxy/firewall disturbing the activation process!

Best regards,
GerdW

Hi GerdW,

For your first question, the other available option to get the activation codes, besides using the NI Product Activation, is to call or send an email to NI Support with the details of your SN and CID.

For your second question, I understand your concern, and you are right, the only Suite options there are LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite, LabVIEW Electrical Power Suite, RFmx Cellular Suite, and Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite. Unfortunately, there is not a specific date I could tell you that these improvements will take place.

Best Regards
