New User to LabView, Process Control Question

Hi All,

I'm a new user to LabView and one of my projects is to develop an application to control a filtration process. Basically, there are 3 pumps in operation and one scale. The upstream pumps need to maintain a constant feed rate (1:50 dilution). This feed goes through a series of filters into a receiving tank on a scale. Another membrane filter takes the feed out of this pump.

I haven't used LabView before so I am a little lost in pursuring this. All the equipment have a RS232 connection in the back. Any help to start me off would be appeciated.

Thanks.

First, attend/ sign-up for a LabVIEW seminar/ hands-on (check it out with your local NI representatives)

As for the equipment control, you should gain control over the RS232/ GPIB Bus. RTFM (Read The Friendly Manual) on remote-programming.

Also, you may wanna look out for some simulation examples either on NI'website or Search Examples through your LabVIEW

>> Goto
Help> Examples..> Demonstration > Process Control

Hope the above gives you a little bit hints. And, may others have benefitial advise for you too.

Good luck

Hey,

Thanks for the reply. I'm planning on taking a LabView class next month. Do you have any idea if the Basics classes will cover this kind of application?

Thanks

hi,

Sorry for late reply.

I believe that your local NI office have some LV Basic courses for beginners.

Call them to find out more. And, of course, if you have problem throughout you course of work, this forum is always ready to help.

Best regards
