Newport Stage Hardware Limit Problem

I am having a problem with moving the stages from the home position.
I perform a 'Find Home Signal' operation, and all the axis home ok.
When I then try and perform an Asolute Move, I get a Hardware Limit
Error and the stage stops moving. It seems to be random, as
sometimes
everything is fine; after I home everything again I get the problem.

I`m pulling my hair out with this, what am i doing wrong...?

Hi James,

If I understand you correctly the error occurs when you make a move after moving to home.  Does this error happen immediately or does your motor move to a certain position and then give you the error?  Do you have limits enabled?  If so do you still get that error if you disable the limit switches?  The limit switches are found in the Measurement Automation Explorer under Devices and Interfaces>>73XX>>Default Settings>>Axis 1>>Motion IO.  Also do you have a hardware limit switch wired?  Another thing to try is to see if you get the same error when you do a relative move instead of a absolute move.

It could be that you have something wired to the hardware limit switch and that is causing the problem.  You will want to double check the wiring to make sure that you don’t have the limit switches and the home limit switched.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

GG

GG,

Thanks for the message, you`ve pretty much got the gist of my
problem. I don`t have anything 'external' connected to the controller/
stages (the setup is as shipped to me by Newport). I will look into
the Measurement Automation Controller in the morning. Yes the stage
moves about 0.07mm before i get the error, I have tried slowing down
its movement & homing as suggested by someone else but that doesn`t
seem to have helped.
