No license when the laptop is in battery operation

Solved!

Hello

I have got a problem with the new license since LabVIEW 8.0. I activated the license when the laptop was in mains operation. When I try to start LabVIEW when the laptop is in battery operation, there is an error because of changed hardware. When I put in the power cord and restart LabVIEW, LabVIEW starts normally. Does anybody else know this problem? How can i start LabVIEW when there is no power outlet?

My laptop is from HP, the model Compaq nc8430. The processor is an Intel Centrino Duo.

Thanks

Hello Shb,

Could you give me more precision about the error message. And what happen when you start Labview with the power outlet and then you change in battery operation?

Best regards,

Hello

The reason you are receiving this message is that the computer ID used to generate an activation code for LabVIEW is based, in part, on your ethernet card's MAC address. It sounds like when you change to battery mode that Windows is reporting a different MAC address to the license manager.

I can generate a computer ID for you based on your hard drive's disk volume serial number which you could use to activate LabVIEW again. This would prevent this issue happening again in the future (well at least until you changed your hard drive but I guess you'd be reinstalling LabVIEW at that point anyway).

In order to get that computer ID to you I need to know what your Volume Serial Number is, this is how to get that:

1. Open a command prompt. Go to Start»Run
2. Type "cmd" (without the quotes) and click OK
3. At the command prompt, type "C:" (without the quotes) to change the active directory to your C: drive
4. Type "vol" (without the quotes) to get your Volume Serial Number.

Once I get that from you with your Labview Development System (Base, Full, Professional). I will reply with a computer ID number you can use to activate LabVIEW at http://ni.com/activate/

Besrt regards,
Nick_CH

Hello,

That sound like privacy information.
There are three way:
The first, You give me your e-mail address with the volume serial number and I will answer you as soon as possible
The second, You phone or e-mail NI in your country

Best regards,

The problem is solved now. I wrote an email to NI. An Applications Engineer told me to write a key in the registry and to activate LabVIEW once again. The key is based on the hard disk now and works fine.

Thanks for your help

Hi Everybody,
I am learning how to communicate with Lock-in using Labview. I am new in this field. When I am using lock-in driver, there is a blink
in the remote but I am not getting any data from lock-in. I am also not being able to change any thing(such as sensitivity, frequency, voltage etc). It will be very much helpful to me if some body help me in this regard.
If somebody can send me any labview file (vi file) written for lock-in, it will be very much helpful to me( Email:   subrata1998@gmail.com)

There was no reason to hijack the original thread. Your subject has nothing at all to do with the original thread. You should post a new question and at the same time, provide a bit more information. Like what lock-in driver and instrument you are using and how the instrument is connected to the pc.

p.s. It's also not a good idea to post your email in a public forum unless you want to receive even more spam than what you are currently getting. No one here responds to email addresses anyway.
