Hi all.
I have a LabVIEW controlled process which has two analyzers generating data. I need to monitor the data real-time in LabVIEW and store them along with other process data in one spread sheet file. More importantly, I want to give each set of data a tag. Approximately 16 plus sets of data are being generated from the instruments and I plan to use OPC servers on both. The manufacturers of both machines said they support OPC. However, they are reluctant to do so, even though they can get some money out of the service. Instead, they offered me some free software package developed on their own which they claim can serve my purpose well.
My question is, under what circumsatances do I need an OPC server and what are the hardware requirements for doing that?
