Ocean Optics USB4000 Spectrometer

Hi Jean,

are you using the NI driver or are you using the OmniDriver interface for our spectrometer? In case of the later, I can help. Feel free to contact me directly via my email. It should be visible.

Thanks in advance, Oliver

I have worked with the Omnidriver before and I have also implemented my own USB driver for the purpose of comparison to spectroemters from other manufacturers (which thena llows me to have a standard interface ACROSS manufacturers).

I was NEVER able to get the same data back from the Omnidriver that I was getting from raw device access.  This is, for me, why we would call the Omnidriver "Opaque".

As a scientist I want teh raw data, not what OceanOptics wants me to see.

Shane.

Hello.

Where can I find USB4000*.iic file to restore the EEPROM?

my spectro stopped working after I applied 5v to the Trig input.

Under device Manager it says: Unknown Device.

The USB4000*.iic file is not located in C:/Prog..files/Ocean Optics/USBProgrammer...

Thanks.

Each spectrometer should be loaded with the firmware for that specfic instrument, with the loading software from ocean optics. Ask the local representative for help. They helped me now on three occasions for stuff like this.

Ok. thanks.

I found the firmware for my USB4000, but the usb Programmer can't find my device.

I should probably install a driver or something form Cypress ?

Thanks.

How old is your device?  This may be the result of a bug/feature in the firmware on an older device.  If the trigger line was held high on boot up the firware would go to a ready to program state.  This was a feature designed to help customers who accidental bricked the device during an upgrade.  Problem is that too many customers were doing it by accident, so on newer firmware we removed it.

Do you have Ocean Optics Usbprogrammer?  If not you can get it for free from the Ocean Optics website.  Please tell me what the device shows up as.  You will need to associate the device with Ocean Optics drivers to do this.

Upon re-reading your post I now understand that you have all this already and simply need the iic firmware image.  you are correct that it no longer comes with usbprogrammer.  You can call or email our tec support to get it.

Hello James.

My USB4000 are from 2008, is this an old version?

I already contacted OO and they send me a new firmware. I found one on my installation CD too, but I thinks it's old (2008).

I will try to flash it this evening, because the USB programmer can only find the device at home. not on computers in the office...

Is it necessary to short SDA, pin to ground? because when I do it, the the USB programmer can't find the device under ``Unprogrammed OOI USB Devices``

THANKS.

If it shows up in the USBprogramer tool then you can program it, no further action needed, like shorting pins.
