Open LV8.0 remote panel with LV2009 or later

Hello everybody,

I'm using the remote panel functions to access a control program written in LV8.0 (on a Suse Enterprise system). I now need to access it from another host which is running Win7, that means there I have to install LV2009 or later. But the new version doesn't cooperate with LV8.0. Is there any other way than updating the control system as well to access it from newer LV versions with the remote panel functions?

thanks for the link, it describes the problem I have, so probably there is no other solution than updating just everything.

I just wondered if there was a workaround.

For Linux I found one: I compiled a small program in the old LV version that doesn't do more than opening a remote panel. One can call this application through a system call out of any newer LV version and it'll open the remote panel of the old LV version. Unfortunately it'll not work on Windows because I can't install LV 8.0 on Win7.

Hi Clemens,

I found a Workaround but i don't know if this is a solution for you.

If you are doing remote panels LV to IE, then the client will need the version of the Run-Time Engine (RTE) that the server is running. Older versions of the LV RTE can be downloaded from ni.com. Also, you can use an ActiveX container to embed an IE control. This workaround can be used to closely mimic the LV to LV connection.
