Output 4 analogy signals using PCIe-6323

Hello,

I just purchased a NI PCIe-6323 card (4 analog output and 32 analog input) for our new computer. But my ACTS device can only receive 2 analog output signals from PCIe-6323 when using it. The ACTS device is connected to the PCIe-6323 through Connector 0.  Actually, I also had a PCI-6229 card for another old computer. The same ACTS device can receive 4 analog output signals when I used PCI-6229 (also connected through Connector 0). The specifications of PCIe-6323 and PCI-6229 are almost the same with 32 Input and 4 Output. May I ask how to solve this problem for PCIe-6323 and do we need to set up something for PCIe-6323?

Additional information about my ACTS device: My ACTS device has 4 output channels, which are 0A, 0B, 7A and 7B. But only 0A and 0B can receive two analog output signals from PCIe-6323. If I use Test panels - Analog Output in NI MAX software, Dev1/ao0 and Dev1/ao1 can send the analog output signals to 0A and 0B when the ACTS device is connected connected to the PCIe-6323 through Connector 0. However, if  the ACTS device is connected connected to the PCIe-6323 through Connector 1, then Dev1/ao2 and Dev1/ao3 can send the analog output signals to 0A and 0B (Dev1/ao0 and Dev1/ao1 can't send signals to ACTS device).

Thank you for your help in advance.

The 6229 and the 6323 have identical pinouts.

6323:

6229:

Page A-21

In both cases, the analog outputs are on pins 21 and 22 of each connector, with 0 and 1 on connector 0, and 2 and 3 on connector 1.  I'm not sure how it ever worked the way you describe your older setup working with 4 outputs on one card.

Can you provide more information about your "ACTS device"? Could you maybe check what pins of the connector are wired to the ACTS device's 3rd and 4th analog input?  Are these connected directly through some 68-pin cables or do you use a breakout of some kind like a SCB-68?

Thank you for your reply and kindly help. We used SCB-68A in our ACTS device. You mentioned that 6229 and the 6323 have identical pinouts. I don't know if pinouts from the 6229 and the 6323 will be different if we use this SCB-68A  as the breakout.

You can look at these diagrams on this PDF here for the SCB-68A:

https://www.ni.com/docs/en-US/bundle/ni-62xx-63xx-scb-68a-labels/resource/371805b.pdf

Page 3 is a shared diagram for many devices, including connector 0 of the 6229 and connector 0 of the 6323

Page 9 is a shared diagram for fewer devices, but includes connector 1 of the 6229 and connector 1 of the 6323

In both cases each pinout only shows two Analog output connections.

One thing about the SCB-68A is that it's not just a converter from 68 pins to terminals, it also has some small switches as well as some breadboard holes to allow for components to be attached as needed.  Is there a chance that maybe the SCB-68A attached to the 6229 has a different switch configuration or some special components or wiring attached to it?

Definitely you are missing an additional cable. As per the 6229 pinout, to get all 4 AO channels, you need to use two cables, one from each connector.

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, in theory, my ACTS device can only receive 2 output signals from both 6229 and 6323 if I only use connector 0. But the strange thing is that the ACTS device can receive 4 output signals from PCI-6229 only using Connector 0. I use a SCB-68A in ACTS and I'm not sure if this SCB-68A can change any configurations of 6229. I also checked the wiring on PCI-6229 and I didn't find any wired cables on PCI-6229. Since 6229 and the 6323 have same pinouts, I'm really confused about the 6229 and the 6323 now. Look forward to your reply and thank you.

Thank you for your previous help. I have checked the wiring on PCI-6229 and I didn't find any wired cables on PCI-6229. The whole setup including SCB-68A in ACTS device and the PCI-6229 in the old computer used the hardware from NI company and we didn't change any configurations. Since 6229 and the 6323 have same pinouts, I'm really confused about the 6229 and the 6323 now. Look forward to your reply and thank you.

Can you traceback all the connections between SCB-68A and ACTS device and share the signals it connects to on the SCB-68A?
