Oxford Cyromagnet: EOS termination and byte setting not saved

Dear all,

Please pardon my inexperience at instrumentation control within LV.

My research group has recently acquired an Oxford Spectromag with a IPS power supply. Naturally, we were provided with the LV5 drivers (which are also available for download) but they do not seem to work well with our LV8.2.

Since the commands are ASCII based over a GPIB interface, input seems fairly easy enough with \r representing carriage return.

However, I have been receiving timeout errors within the LV programming when i try for Read-type of commands. This happens both in VISA and Instrument I/O Asst.

Interestingly, no timeout errors occur when I choose EOS termination "13" as EOS byte, under "Communicate with my instrument" within MAX.

Is there a way to permanently save this piece of information so that I can finally read responses over GPIB without incurring timeout errors?

(I might need to add that there are 3 other lock-in amplifiers from Stanford research connected to the same GPIB card..)

Regards,

SWNgiam

In MAX, you can change the properties of the GPIB controller to always send the EOS byte.
