PCI vs PXI

I wonder what will happen if I connect the PXI card to the PCI slot in a regular pc?

has anyone tried this?

How do you plan to do this. Logically PXI is similar to PCI so the software accessing these cards doesn’t really change. But electrically and physically they are very different. Not to talk about “subtleties” like PCI and PCI Express resp. PXI and PXIe!

Basically you will need an adapter board and the PCI bus signals are both fast and sensitive so the adapter board better is a well designed PCB! Wire wrap never will produce a working adapter!

Good luck with that...

It's not even close to the same connector.

PXI stands for "PCI eXtensions for Instrumentation".  There is a very nice Wikipedia article on what it means that should convince you that the two are "related, but not interchangable" (for one thing, the backplanes are very different ...).
