Thanks, but I had already seen that page. It was not clear to me whether they were talking about communication to an instrument or simply communication back to the host PC. However, since I asked the question I have received an answer in the affirmative, and in fact I have seen a demonstration of communication to an instrument. (The reason I originally asked for clarification is because in my installation calling serial functions seems to crash the Palm OS.)
