PXI-8422/4 DTR-Question

Hallo all,

I have a XI8422 with 4 Ports installed. I get a program from other people and i wanted to use this card.

At the product, where i load someing in it with that program, is a COM SubD 9pol. where the Pins 2,3,4,5 and 7 are conacted. 2 and 3 are TxD / RxD, 5 is GND and Pin 7 is RTS. So i can see at the productinfo of the 8422 is that no problem.

But the Pin 4 is DTR...when i read i correctly, that option does´t works.

Now i wnated to know. if that is right. Can someone help me at that piont?? Is that right??

Hi Simon,

the 8422/4 is compativle with standard SubD-9pin connectors which are normally found on PCs.
Pin 4 is DTR, one of the handshaking lines. So i´m sorry not having understood the actual Problem yet.
Can u please describe it a little bit more detailed?

I thought that also, but it does not works

I found a information sheed of the card, with i have:

When you go to page 3 and look at "PXI-8422/4" - thats the card with i have - you can see in the column "All Signals" no hack

and at the column "Only RXD, TXD, GND, RTS and CTS" a hack.

But i need the DTR!

I only can say that it works with the normal comports at the pc and with the card PXI-8422/4 it dont works!

I think that is the reason for it. But im not sure...

What do you think about it?

Hi Simon,

you are right! I looked into the sheet and saw that there´s no checkmark in the all signals column.
But this is nothing we can change. The card supports only these lines, so if u need DTR u simply have
to choose a different card.
Isolated boards only support: RXD, TXD, GND, RTS and CTS lines.

With card could i take instead of this one?

My problem is, that we are checking some platines with this and when the visual control wasnt correct, it can be that on some pins are some volts. if there is a bug on the card. So we decided to take the isolated gates. I cant find a card with is isolated and also can this DTR.

What would you suggest?
